McSquared was hired by a Boulder, Colorado homeowner association to perform a major exterior renovation project on four townhome buildings. The townhomes were originally built in 1980 and suffered from years of neglected maintenance. A local siding subcontractor was brought in to remove the old wood siding and replace it with fiber cement lap siding and trim. Richard (owner of McSquared) worked in partnership with a subcontractor to rebuild 22 resident decks with treated framing lumber, composite decking, and metal guard rails. The project also included the removal of three large trees, replacing the exterior entry lights, replacing the garage doors, and repairing various safety and access related issues.

The homeowner association consisted of twelve owners and a property management representative, so the client-builder relationship was complicated. McSquared prepared and presented project costs to the owner board, and submitted design proposals and material samples for approval. The goals for the owner board included increasing property value, updating the appearance of the dated group of buildings, and improving the quality of life for the residents (renters and owners). Shortly after the completion of this project multiple units sold for more than asking price and were appraised above comparable real estate listings.
